The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is a mandatory pre-screening mechanism administered by the United States government pursuant to the provisions of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). It determines the preliminary eligibility of nationals from designated VWP countries to travel to the United States without obtaining a nonimmigrant visa. An approved ESTA is not a visa; it is a pre-travel authorisation that permits the holder to board a carrier destined for the United States.

All nationals of VWP designated countries intending to enter the United States for purposes of tourism, business consultation, or transit for a duration not exceeding ninety (90) calendar days are statutorily required to obtain an approved ESTA prior to boarding a carrier destined for the United States. This requirement applies to all modes of air and sea travel. Land border crossings from Canada and Mexico may be subject to separate provisions.

An approved ESTA is valid for a period of two (2) years from the date of authorisation or until the expiration of the Applicant's passport, whichever occurs first. Multiple entries to the United States are permitted within this validity period, provided each stay does not exceed ninety (90) calendar days. The Applicant is not required to obtain a new ESTA for each trip within the validity period, though travel information may be updated.

An approved ESTA does not constitute a guarantee of admission to the United States. It authorises the holder to board a carrier destined for the United States and to present themselves at a port of entry. The final determination of admissibility is rendered by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer at the port of entry, who retains full discretion to admit or refuse entry based on the circumstances presented at the time of arrival.

The ESTA is not a visa. A visa is a formal entry document issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate following a consular interview and adjudication process. The ESTA is a pre-travel electronic authorisation specific to the Visa Waiver Program. Applicants who do not qualify for the VWP, or whose ESTA application is denied, must apply for a nonimmigrant visa through standard consular channels.

The Applicant must possess a valid electronic passport (e-Passport) with biometric chip compliant with ICAO Document 9303 standards, a valid email address for correspondence, a payment instrument (Visa, MasterCard) for the administrative levy, and travel itinerary details including intended dates and U.S. accommodation address. Additional information such as employer details and U.S. point of contact may be required depending on the purpose of travel.

The declaration form typically requires fifteen to twenty (15–20) minutes to complete, assuming the Applicant has assembled all required documentation in advance. The administrative processing and adjudication phase is separate from the completion time and is governed by the timelines outlined in the Processing Times section. The Applicant is advised to complete the declaration in a single session to avoid data loss.

For data integrity and security purposes, partially completed declarations are subject to session timeout provisions. The Applicant is advised to assemble all required documentation prior to commencing the submission process and to complete the declaration in a single session. Abandoned or timed-out sessions require re-entry of all data fields.

Prior to final submission, the Applicant is presented with a comprehensive review of all entered data and given the opportunity to amend any fields. Post-submission modifications are subject to the constraints outlined in the Modify Application section. Errors in non-modifiable fields (name, passport number, date of birth) necessitate cancellation of the existing declaration and submission of a new application.

In the event that an ESTA application receives a 'Travel Not Authorized' determination, the Applicant is not permitted to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. This determination does not necessarily preclude the Applicant from obtaining a nonimmigrant visa through the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The denial does not create a permanent record of inadmissibility but may be considered in future immigration applications.

Formal notification of the adjudication determination is transmitted to the Applicant's registered correspondence address (email) upon conclusion of the review process. The notification includes the determination outcome, authorisation credentials (if approved), validity period, and any applicable instructions. The Applicant is advised to retain a copy of the approval confirmation for travel records.

This status indicates that the adjudicating process has identified data discrepancies, incomplete fields, or conditions requiring supplementary documentation from the Applicant. A formal request specifying the required information and a response deadline is transmitted to the registered email address. The Applicant must respond within the designated timeframe; failure to do so may result in administrative closure of the declaration.

Certain fields within a submitted declaration may be amended subsequent to submission, including contact information, travel itinerary, U.S. accommodation, and emergency contact details. However, modifications to biographic data (name, date of birth, gender), passport information, or eligibility question responses are not permitted and necessitate the submission of a new declaration. Cancellation requests are subject to the provisions outlined in the Refund Policy. Refund eligibility is determined by the stage of adjudication at the time the cancellation request is received. Cancellations prior to Phase II commencement are generally eligible for refund less an administrative processing fee. Post-determination cancellations are not eligible for refund. All refund requests must be submitted through formal correspondence channels.

Refund processing, where applicable, requires five to ten (5–10) business days from the date of cancellation confirmation. Refunds are issued to the original payment instrument used for the transaction. The Applicant's financial institution may require additional processing time beyond the portal's refund issuance date.

This portal operates as an independent, private third-party service facilitating ESTA submissions. We are not affiliated with the U.S. Government or U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The services provided consist of guided declaration preparation, data validation, compliance review, and submission facilitation. The determination of travel authorisation remains the sole prerogative of the competent governmental authority.
